Sports injuries vary from mild sprains and strains to bone fractures and joint injuries. Yet, while severe injuries can lead to chronic joint pain, or even total joint replacement, the game doesn’t have to end. Through the latest advances in joint replacement, even the most traumatic sports injuries can be potentially overcome.
Since 1990, Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Steven Zelicof has been treating orthopedic patients in the Westchester, New York area. Performing reconstructive surgery of the hip, knee, and shoulder joints, Dr. Zelicof utilizes advanced and minimally invasive techniques, including computer navigation.
Sports and other physical activities can cause a number of joint problems, including knee injuries, back pain, ankle sprains, shoulder injuries, and ACL and meniscal tears. At Specialty Orthopaedics, we are dedicated to correcting these issues - getting you back to your active lifestyle with minimal recovery time and post-operative pain.
Most patients seen at Specialty Orthopaedics do not require surgery. We focus on many non-operative modalities including nutritional supplements, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections and physical therapy to treat most injuries. When surgery is indicated we focus on joint sparing procedures such as cartilage restoration and resurfacing techniques to address joint problems. However, when joint replacement surgery is necessary, Dr. Zelicof uses the latest technical advances in the procedures and equipment utilized during hip and knee replacements, such as muscle sparing surgery, computer navigation and state of the art pain management. Dr. Zelicof’s patients are now able to benefit from these procedures while regaining an active lifestyle. Our patients can expect to stay on the move, enjoying their favorite activities with less pain and more flexibility.

Dr. Zelicof serves as primary physician for the World Team Tennis New York Sport Times, and the United States Cycling Federation. Dr. Zelicof also served as a consultant for the PGA and LPGA Champions Golf Tours and is the co-director of the Westchester Triathlon.
Dr. Zelicof specializes in the conservative treatment of arthritis and sports injuries.
