Cristian Brotea, M.D., has a dual engineering and medical background which gives him unique insight into spinal diseases. He specializes in the conservative and surgical evaluation and treatment of upper and lower back problems, including sports and work-related injuries, disc herniations, vertebral fractures, scoliosis and arthritic and degenerative spine diseases of the neck and back. Dr. Brotea treats patients of all ages ranging from children and adolescents with spine problems such as scoliosis to older individuals with osteoporotic vertebral fractures.
At the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Brotea was part of a team which included world-renowned spine neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons. He has extensive training in complex spine instrumentation as well as handling spine-related tumors and infections. Dr. Brotea also has experience with some of the newest surgical interventions for the spine, including kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty, as well as special minimally invasive surgical techniques that allow him to perform major spine procedures through much smaller incisions. In addition, he also offers the newly FDA-approved cervical and lumbar disc replacement procedures.
