Valdet Nikci, M.D. is an orthopaedic hand and upper extremity surgeon. He specializes in evaluation and treatment of a wide variety of conditions affecting the hand, wrist, forearm and elbow including fractures, nerve injuries, nerve compression syndromes, tendon and ligament injuries, Dupuytren’s contracture and arthritis in the hand and wrist. He is dedicated to his patients and delivers the highest quality of care for each patient in the most compassionate manner using the best scientific evidence.
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, he completed his orthopaedics residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick, NJ. He then went on to do a fellowship for advanced training in hand, upper extremity and microvascular surgery at Columbia University Medical Center in New York.
Dr. Nikci is focused on providing each patient the unique care they deserve. He pursues nonoperative treatment modalities wherever possible and uses minimally invasive techniques including wrist arthroscopy and endoscopic carpal tunnel release. His expertise includes treatment of upper extremity injuries and conditions affecting adults and children and he has extensive experience treating athletes with hand and wrist injuries. He has worked closely with team physicians for professional teams such as the New York Yankees as well as Division I colleges like Princeton University and Rutgers University. He has a diverse background in orthopaedics, having traveled abroad to places like Japan, Austria and Haiti to provide orthopaedic care. He currently serves as the Chief of Hand Surgery at Montefiore New Rochelle hospital.
